Caniçal, known Fishing village has the only
natural sand beach of Madeira, Prainha,
searched by the swimmers.
This village, known in other times for the
whale hunting, conserves vestiges of this
activity in the Museu da Baleia. The Museum
has opened to the general public in 1990,
and it has “Whale hunting boat”, part of a
Cachalote in fiber, several kinds of bones
and whale's teeth, allusive photographs and
engravings to the whales.
